Obverse: The obverse of the piece showcases a radiant, .999 silver-crafted image of the composer. Above him arcs a piano keyboard, its keys given a mirror-like proof finish accentuated with 24-karat gold, reflecting Chopin’s golden touch and mastery of the instrument. In a beautiful fusion of music and imagery, music notation lines encircle Chopin’s portrait, subtly transforming into willow trees at the far end. These trees, characteristic of Chopin’s childhood home in Żelazowa Wola, Poland, provide a nostalgic touch that connects the composer’s art to his roots. The commemorative carries a deeper significance, echoing how Chopin’s music has become an integral part of Poland’s cultural tapestry. The piece pays homage to this legacy with a heartfelt inscription: “Home Is Where The Heart Is,” a sentiment echoing the moving verse from the Book of Matthew found on Chopin’s memorial slab in Warsaw: “Where Your Treasure Is, There Your Heart Will Be Also.” A gold-plated design, partially superimposed with 24k gold, unifies all issues in The Giants of Poland Collection. Reverse: Drawing inspiration from Polish tradition, the image features the national personification of Poland, Polonia, joining Britannia and Lady Liberty on contemporary coinage. Designed by Antoni Madeyski, the design showcases a woman's profile adorned with a wreath against a radiant sunlight backdrop. This design first gained prominence on the silver 10 zloty coin in 1932. For this issue, Polish engraver Monika Molenda masterfully adds a striking crown design. Intertwined leaves of the Polish oak and laurel embrace the rim. The motto of The Giants of Poland Collection, “Gigantivm · Hvmeris · Insidentes,” honors the remarkable sons and daughters of the Polish nation. To the right, the Polish state emblem, the White Eagle, a design by Wojciech Jastrzębowski for Second Polish Republic coins, is displayed.
